IS JESUS IN YOUR BOAT?
(Amplified Bible – Luke 8:22-25)

22 One of those days He and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, Let us go across to the other side of the lake. So they put out to sea.

23 But as they were sailing, He fell off to sleep. And a whirlwind revolving from below upwards swept down on the lake, and the boat was filling with water, and they were in great danger.

24 And the disciples came and woke Him, saying, Master, Master, we are perishing! And He, being thoroughly awakened, censured and blamed and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; and they ceased, and there came a calm.

25 And He said to them, [Why are you so fearful?] Where is your faith (your trust, your confidence in Me — in My veracity and My integrity)? And they were seized with alarm and profound and reverent dread, and they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this, that He commands even wind and sea, and they obey Him?

Jesus is in the boat with his disciples crossing over to the next town and a storm arises. They begin to sink, but interestingly, Jesus is noticed sound asleep in the boat amidst all the boisterous waves and strong winds, unperturbed by the turbulence.

Meanwhile, Peter and the others are busily fighting for their lives, forgetting the Master of the Oceans, waves and sky resides in their boat. They try everything humanly possible, but to no avail. Alas, it dawns on them to seek for the Master of oceans, waves and skies; perhaps, He can work a miracle once again, they have seen Him turn water into wine, open the eyes of the blind, raise the dead, perhaps he might save them this time for they realized their strength and wisdom had failed them and so had their experience as fisher men.

Moral

There comes a time in our lives where our strength, wisdom, experience, families and friends may fail us.

The boat represents our lives and the water is liken to the cares of life. In the boat of the disciples we find families (Simon Peter and Andrews were brothers), friends, co-workers and the likes. So it is with our lives.

Reflections
Who do we consult when the storms of life rises up against us?
Do we, like the disciples, neglect Christ Jesus and consult friends and families?
Jesus was in their boat but the storm still arose against them Why?

Conclusion
As Christians, it is not enough having Christ in you, if you make Christ (sleep in your boat) dormant, the storm will rise against you and will prevail against you. No wonder we see Holy Ghost filled, tongue-speaking Christians being beaten by the storms of life.

It is about time you wake Jesus up in your boat (life), don’t make him sleep (dormant). This is done by constant fellowship with Him; prayer and fasting, personal devotions and quiet times as well as reading and meditation of the bible.

When the disciples came to themselves and woke Jesus up, all it took was a word from Him and there was absolute peace. You might be experiencing a storm in your life, all you need today is Jesus Christ.

Is Jesus in your boat? If yes, is He asleep in the boat or not?
Maybe you don’t have Jesus in your boat and would like to invite Him into your boat.

Pray this Prayer:
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I am tired of battling the storms of life alone,
I confess to you that I am a sinner,
I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and I believe He died for my sins.
This day, I invite Jesus Christ into my life, I accepts Him as my Lord and Savior all the days of my life.
In the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen
