Theme:We Need To Be Faithful Until The Lord Returns.
45.Who is then faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time.
46.It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
47.I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
48.But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, My master is staying away a long time;
49.and he then begins to beat his fellow-servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
In the above readings, we see that the slave the master set over his household to give them food at the appointed time says, My master delays…and so he beats his fellow slaves and eats and drinks with the drunken.
Here the slave is not an unbeliever but a believer who was entrusted by the Lord with a stewardship to feed His people with Christ’s riches until He returns; but this believer thinks that the Lord tarries His coming, and so he mistreats his fellow believers and enjoys the things of this world, hoping the Lord will not come too soon.
Many believers do not live a life in the preparation for the Lord’s return, and so when He returns He will “cut them asunder”, that is, He will cut them off from His coming glory and apportion them the outer darkness apart from the Lord for 1000 years (see Matt. 24:14-30 ).
