All praise and glory to God for keeping us alive to this time of the year.

The Bible has revealed to us that there was a nation, a people chosen by God to be His own; that through them the whole world would see His glory and worship Him. They became the spotlight of the world because they rallied with the Almighty God.

Out of their own disobedience, God gave them up to slavery for 430 years subjecting them, His own nation, to the Egyptians. Exodus 12:40 “Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.” KJV.

God being loving and caring never neglected the Israelites but looked forward to returning His own people to Himself through his servant Moses and Joshua. (Exodus 3: 7-10). Israel was not just to be liberated from slavery but also to enter into “The Promise Land” of which the Bible describes as a land good and spacious, a land flowing with milk and honey (Exodus 3:8)

Unfortunately, Moses who led the Israelites from Egypt was forbidden by God to enter that promise land (Deuteronomy 3:21-29) so Joshua (Moses’ assistant) the son of Nun was to lead the people of Israel as instructed by God. But before that Moses had to charge the Israelites and give them a focused view as they prepared to enter into the promise land.

Beloved at this point I want you to reflect on God’s loving-kindness, mercies and grace and the protection He gives you irrespective of your sins. I want you to have the heart of gratitude towards the Almighty God because He, El-Shaddai, has continually been with us just as He was with the Israelites even in their captivity. He has fought our battles for us and has given us victory. Even as we have few days to enter into a new year, our promise land, God wants us to go into the year and take over. God wants you to enter the year in His strength and might to possess your possessions, to assume your role as a people chosen by God.

Beloved, the year you are about to enter will never be like any of the past years where you were entangled in the issues of this life, where you had to toil so much before you could achieve any good thing but listen beloved, the year we are about to enter has already been planted with the goodies of God Himself. He has carefully planted in the year the seeds that would move you into higher heights in all facets of your life and the amazing thing is that you are not the one to water the seeds God has planted in the year because the year, the promise land, drinks rain from Heaven. Deuteronomy 11:10 “The land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden. But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.”

Beloved you may be weary, be at the verge of death, lost hope but I want to announce to you this day that Heaven is going to be your source of rest, your source of refreshing and your source of help because God would surely care for you from the beginning to the end. He is not going to let you down.

The question then is, how can this be possible? How can all these things materialize?

Deuteronomy 11:8 “Observe therefore all the commands I am giving you today, so that you may have the strength to go in and take over the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess”

Deuteronomy 11:13 “So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul”

Deuteronomy 11:22 “If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you to follow—to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways and to hold fast to him”

Beloved taking a critical look at the scriptures above, to be a partaker of the blessings of the promise land, you have to observe God’s commands, which means obeying his words. Remember that obedience yields blessings whiles disobedience yields curses. Love God with all your heart. Loving the world and its pleasure brings enmity between you and God. Serve God with all your heart, strength and might because he who serves diligently will always receive a worthy reward.

Deuteronomy 11:31-32” You are about to cross the Jordan to enter and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you. When you have taken it over and are living there, be sure that you obey all the decrees and laws I am setting before you today.”

Stay blessed

Have a prosperous new year.
