Foundations of Faith.
Christ the Foundation Series.

After the death of Stephen, many of the Greek-speaking believers in Jerusalem fled to other Mediterranean cities. Those who went to Antioch had God-given success in drawing many people to belief in Jesus.

Antioch had a large and well-established Jewish population as well as a predominantly Gentile population. Outside of Jerusalem, it was in this great and diverse cosmopolitan city the believers were first identified or called Christians.

It was at Antioch that there was a change of course, though careful consideration shows that such had been the Lord’s plan all along. It was at Antioch that some of the Jewish believers in Christ from Cyprus and Cyrene began to do something that would affect the whole world. Perhaps these were some of those who had been visiting at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost when the apostles had first proclaimed the risen Lord. At any rate, these disciples began to preach the word not only to other Jews, but also to Greeks as well.

In my reminiscent mood I remembered the day a fellow Believer/Christian asked this question “So after one becoming a Believer/Christian what’s next?” I believe many Believer/Christian are also seeking for answers to that question. Let’s carefully examine the questions and scriptures below as we use the principle of a Builder to aid us in our quest.

  • Is there anything to build on?
  • What is our goal As Believers/Christians?
  • Is this journey a lonely one?
  • What builds us up?
  • Now the big question,on what foundation are we building on?

That is What We need to Build on?
Jude 20-21 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Our Aim As a Christian Is To Be a Holy Temple for God to Dwell In
Ephesians 2:21-22
In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. (NIV)

We are living stones, chosen and built together by God for His Dwelling
1 Peter 2:4-5As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

This is what Build US up
Acts 20:32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Our Foundation is a Person,Jesus Christ is Our Foundation.
1Corinthians 3:9-11 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
