Massimiliano Allegri’s men led by an inspired Cristiano Ronaldo overturned a 2-0 first leg deficit by beating Atletico Madrid 3-0 at the Allianz stadium to qualify for the last eight of the Uefa Champions League.
After losing the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano in Spain by 2-0, Cristiano Ronaldo produced yet another moment of brilliance for the ‘old ladies’ by scoring three goals to ensure the Spanish side crushed out on Italian soil (3-2 on aggregate).
The five-time balon dor winner scored two goals with his head from open play and converted a late penalty in the game to complete the stunning comeback for Juventus.
Diego Simeone and his men arrived in Turin with high hopes of making it to the next round of the competition after winning the first leg by two goals (2:0) but Cristiano Ronaldo had other ideas. The Portuguese superstar took the wind out of the sails of Atletico Madrid and left them stunned with three unanswered goals.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, last hat-trick in the Europe’s elite competition came against same opponent (Atletico Madrid), in May 2017.
He has now equalled Lionel Messi’s champions League record of eight hat-tricks in the competition.
Juventus qualifies to the quarter finals and joins Manchester United, Fc Porto, Ajax, Manchester City and Tottenham hotspur as the only Italian side left in the competition.
