Italian-born Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban says that he is not bothered about the pressure that comes with wearing the number 8 jersey which was the jersey of former Chelsea superstar Michael Essien.

Caleb Ekuban climbed off the bench to score the only goal as the Black Stars finished the AFCON 2019 qualifiers as Group F winners, two points above Kenya.

He hit a first-time left-footed shot from just inside the box, the effort proving too strong for goalkeeper Matasi. Ekuban is one of five debutants invited for the match by Kwesi Appiah.

Asked if he is under pressure wearing a jersey which was the jersey of Michael Essien, Ekuban said; ‘’if you say the name I start to get the pressure but I really think about the white colour I don’t think about the number behind me’’.

‘’ I am just with my teammates on the pitch so we play together and the pressure on the jersey number doesn’t give me so much bothering’’. Caleb Ekuban added.

Meanwhile Caleb Ekuban is delighted after scoring on his debut for Ghana in their 1-0 win over Kenya in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Accra on Saturday.
