Former Chelsea Star and Black Stars midfielder have hinted that the Black Stars of Ghana will need hungry players to be able to win the Nations Cup in June to be hosted by Egypt.
The Black Stars have come close to winning the trophy twice in the last decade but lost to a lone goal against Egypt in Angola 2010 and La Cote’D’Ivoire in Equatorial Guinea on penalties.
Speaking ahead of the AFCON 2019 in June , the former Black Star Midfielder believes Ghana can end its 37 years trophy drought with a group of hungry players,good management and a bit of luck.
“We need good hungry players, good management and a bit of luck to win titles in football and I have no doubt the team will be doing everything to win it,” the former Chelsea star told goal.com.
“It won’t be easy because there are so many strong teams in Africa who will be looking to win it, so it’s going to be a big battle.
“I am sure the guys will be ready and we will find out in due course.”
Meanwhile Michael Essien picks Ghana ,Senegal and Egypt as his favourites to win the ultimate trophy in Egypt.
The draw for the group stages for the AFCON 2019 will take place on Friday in Cairo the capital of Egypt.
